Today, if I had to go wait even half as long as I did in high school for a page to load, I just might jump off a bridge. Thanks to technology and the ridiculous advancements the Internet has allowed, my struggle with patience is no more.
This infographic from Online University illustrates what the Internet used to be and what it is now. It’s amazing to see how far along things have come. The tendency of today’s society is to always look ahead, ‘look toward the future’, as they would say. However, might I be as bold as to say, “Take a couple minutes and look at the past. Look at where we were in comparison to where we are now.” The illustrations of the 1996 column are spot on. Does it bring back memories? nightmares? Imagine where we will be in another 15 years. Will today’s design, speed, integration, communication or even life itself, completely consume our lives? Only time will tell.
