The Importance of Networking with Other Bloggers in Your Niche

If you are alive and breathing, you have heard of Facebook or Twitter. Most likely, you have obsessively followed your favorite artist tweeting throughout the week about their recent album release, or stalked your favorite fashion blogger on Facebook wondering if you could ever be her “friend” in real life. Social networking is everywhere and doesn’t seem to be fading anytime soon. As the world of blogging blossoms because of these networking tools, you may be asking yourself on more than one occasion how to utilize these sites to get your blog noticed by 6 million users. Ever thought of how networking with other bloggers just like you could boost your blog traffic? Here are a few things for you to think about.

Building relationships online is sort of like a having a relationship in person. You share a common interest, you start to think about each other when they’re not around, you date for a while, and then they date your best friend. It’s sort of orgiastic because you mingle with the same people, eat at the same restaurants, and shop at the same clothing stores. Blogging is the same way. It is critical to the success of your blog to “date” other blogs that are like yours. That way you establish some credibility by knowing other blogs, and everyone wins because both blogs are attracting the attention of viewers. Once a reader likes a blog, they will naturally seek out other blogs that are in the same vein as the blogs they like. Building relationships with blogs in your niche will not only be a great way to name drop, but also will increase the amount of hits to your blog, which isn’t bad at all.

Networking sites, like Facebook, have become the perfect environments for businesses to promote themselves. It is so successful because it adds that personal touch needed to promote good business. Bloggers can at least pretend to be “friends” with other bloggers, an important social connection that anyone on facebook can see just by going to your page. By logging on users can clearly see that  “PartyPlanner4lyfe” is best buds with “ILiketomoveitmoveit” and then instantly get the desire to be friends with both of them! The ability to select that you “like” something on Facebook also helps increase traffic to your blog because people trust reviews from friends. Just be careful of links that appear to be spam; your “friends” won’t appreciate that.

Another benefit of teaming up with other bloggers in your niche is to create a power team that instantly becomes the experts on your specific topic. By knowing more about weddings, or heavy metal than anyone else, you will become the instant go-to for thousands of people on Twitter, or Facebook. Having another blogger around will help give you credibility and give you someone to depend on if a question arises that you may not know the answer to (even though you would never admit that). Another blogger can offer you helpful tips and advice, especially if you are new to the blogging world.

Keep in mind that networking with other blogger’s may be the key to a successful blog. Don’t shy away from making new “friends” on Facebook, especially if you find a blog that is in your niche.
